DigiChat AV Feature: Plug-In Support
Available with all versions of DigiChat.
One of our goals at Digi-Net Technologies is to make DigiChat a "platform" which third-party developers can take what we have put into DigiChat and extend it in ways even we can't imagine. The DigiChat Commander was a start. DigiChat v4 introduced the BOT API and DigiChat v5 introduced the Plugin API, which enables developers to write additional functions and features that can exist outside of the DigiChat interface. These plugins are loaded after DigiChat and can be fully cached and executed from within the DigiChat applet.
- Plugins are limited only by your imagination. Some examples of possible plugins include:
- Build your own gaming forum (chess, checkers, card games) complete with custom graphics, rankings, ladder tournaments, etc. All of which is tied into DigiChat, which handles end user communications.
- Build a matchmaking plugin to connect compatible site members with each other. The plugin can be used to announce arrivals, count attempts to communicate and instantly notify the end user when a "match" occurs.
- Tie DigiChat into an existing CRM database, providing an instant lookup of support or complaint tickets while being able to discuss the issues in a DigiChat chat room.
- Create a "rating network" where chatters can rate or post comments about other chatters, complete with a graphical meter that measures chat activity. Combine this with a guest or log book where chatters can leave notes, to promote a greater sense of online community and site stickiness.
- Developers can take full advantage of the DigiChat's familiar interface elements (buttons, icons, lists) or design their own custom elements.
- Open a connection to any other computer or server for data or back-end processing.
- Store preferences, settings and data on a local hard drive storage or connect to an external database.
- DigiChat Plugins can exchange messages with DigiChat BOTs to open additional possibilities to the plugin developer.
