1. Can DigiPosts be integrated with an online chat room solution?
Yes. This is one of DigiPosts most popular features. DigiPosts was designed from the ground up to be integrated with DigiChat, the most popular Java chat software on the Internet today. DigiPosts and DigiChat can share a common membership database and login system, allowing you an easy way to set up an integrated community for your web site.
2. Can DigiPosts be integrated with an online Instant messaging solution?
Yes, DigiPosts is also designed to be integrated with Hubz, a Java-based instant messaging solution for the Web. There is full integration between the products, including the sharing of a common membership database.
3. How can I keep my forums secure?
You can determine the level of security your DigiPosts site utilizes through the flexible security and privilege model that DigiPosts utilizes. You can limit the reading of posts or the ability to posting to only those users that are registered members with sufficient privileges. You can also control chat room access, limiting it only to those who are registered members. You also have the ability to control who can register for a memebership on the site, or if membership registrations require Boardmaster approval or if applicants get automatic access to the site after the registration process is finished.
4. Can I create a moderated forum?
Yes. In a moderated forum all posts must be approved first by the moderator before they are posted to the site.
5. Can I use word filters?
Yes. In order to keep your site usable for all ages, DigiPosts includes the ability to automatically filter undesirable words. This list of words can either be entered in by the BoardMaster, or can be imported directly from an existing DigiChat site with the ChatWatch feature.
6. Can I customize the look and feel of DigiPosts?
Yes!! DigiPosts is completely customizable. Everything you see in DigiPosts’ interface is defined by custom HTML templates. You have full control of these HTML templates, so that you can match DigiPosts exactly to your existing sites look and feel.
7. Can I use DigiPosts to share files with others online?
Yes!! DigiPosts supports file attachments. If the feature is enabled for a particular forum, users will have the ability to upload their own attachments to their posts. This makes it very useful for collaboration with other online users.
8. How do I administer my DigiPosts site?
The administration of the DigiPosts site is done directly from the DigiPosts site interface. If you are logged in with an appropriate BoardMaster account, you will be able to manage all aspects of your DigiPosts site. This includes, but is not limited to: managing your member list, adding/deleting forums, adding/editing/deleting posts & threads, and editing the HTML templates (plus much more).
9. How many users am I limited by?
DigiPosts will not limit the you to the number of concurrent users on the board at any time, however we do offer packages based on the number of registered DigiPosts community members.
10. How many threads am I limited by?
DigiPosts will not limit the amount of threads or posts your site can have.
11. Why is the Java servlet archictecture preferable to other scripting languages such as CGI/Perl, PHP, or ASP?
A Java Servlet is a way of showing dynamic web content from a static web address. Much in the same way other existing scripting languages like CGI or ASP can generate dynamic content based on input given to it by a user, so to does a Java Servlet. The advantage of a java-servlet over these other existing scripting languages is its portability. Java was specifically designed so that an application could be written once and run on any OS with a virtual machine. Java servlets take this concept further by extending it into the field of server-side scripting.
